From its first opening moments, this movie had me in a vice grip. Very much inspired by the pulp magazines and adventure serials of yesteryear, there is a spirit of fun and adventure that is instantly infectious. With an exciting ensemble cast and great-looking animation, it’s going to be a fun time. The movie plays on a lot of pre-existing tropes to great success, but it’s also wildly original in its design. The titular “strange world” that most of the movie takes place in is both bizarre and gorgeous, and I’ve honestly never seen anything quite like it. Later in the movie, when you find out the truth about the nature of the world, every odd thing you’ve seen previously suddenly makes sense. Good adventure, has good characters, good animation, pretty good comedy, and a wonderful look. Yeah, I loved this movie.
