The new Puss in Boots is good?! How weird is that? Just when I was ready to write this whole franchise off, here they come with a really solid entry. I’ll admit, the film is never hilarious. It’s sometimes funny, but it’s not a laugh riot. Where it does excel, however, is a sense of fun and adventure, excellent visuals using a new animation style for the Shrek franchise, and a really great villain who is genuinely intimidating. The final fight sequence in this movie is genuinely great with some amazing choreography. It’s overall just a fun adventure, and sometimes even a little deep. Not Shrek 2 caliber, but a definite return to form for the franchise.
